Hello, I’m Kate Day, a charcoal portrait artist based in Llanelli, South West Wales.
My passion lies in creating expressive portraits that go beyond likeness — capturing presence, character, and spirit. I don’t work from photographs; instead, I draw from the images in my imagination, allowing each face to emerge from the paper gradually. It’s a process of discovery, where I get to watch each person “arrive” through the rich depth and texture of charcoal.
Alongside my original works, I also offer fine art prints, making my portraits accessible to anyone who connects with them.
